Parent and Citizens Committee

Welcome to Murray Farm Public School P&C!

Our Murray Farm Parents and Citizens (P&C) Association is here to support our school and community. We consist of parents and citizens within the school’s community, and our purpose is to assist the students, the school and to help promote the interests of the entire school community.

Our key objectives are:

  • to promote the interests of the school by bringing parents, citizens, students and teaching staff into close co-operation; and
  • to assist in providing facilities and equipment for the school and in promoting the recreation and welfare of the students at the school.

The P&C Committee is made up of passionate volunteers who work closely with the staff and school community on a regular basis to achieve our objectives. Some recent examples of this close and effective collaboration include the upgrade of the school library and the ongoing events the P&C facilitates such as Mothers and Fathers days, and the locally famous Cracker Carnival.

The P&C is only as strong as the community that it is made up of, and whilst the committee is passionate, they can’t do it all on their own. Volunteers are so important to the fabric of the P&C and there are many ways for everyone to get involved, from just sharing your ideas, attending meetings, through to volunteering to help out with specific events (click the link at volunteer page), through to becoming committee members.

All parents and citizens are encouraged to get involved and help bring our school community closer and continue to make our school a great place to be.

The P&C organises and runs many fundraising events throughout the year, and these events would not be possible without the help of volunteers. Volunteering with P&C gives you a chance to meet other parents, staff and best of all, you get to see the positive impact of your volunteering on all the students participating in the events. We have a wide range of tasks needing the help of volunteers, so we can definitely find a role to suit you and your own availability.

I encourage everyone to get involved in P&C and contribute to making our school and community a great place for the future.

I look forward to seeing you at the next meeting or event! In the meantime, if you see me or any of the committee members around the school grounds, please do not hesitate to reach out and say Hi – we’d love to meet you!

To vote

The membership year for a P&C Association is from the close of one AGM until the close of the next AGM.

Membership fee is due at the AGM. People who meet the membership criteria can join at any meeting throughout the year or even between meetings by paying the membership fee. A person who pays at a meeting or between meetings is not considered a member until the meeting closes and the member register is updated. So, for the next meeting, they are a financial member and can vote, move or second motions, and enter into debate.

To stop the stacking of meeting is the reason that a person cannot come to a meeting pay membership and vote. This is why under the constitution the membership register is deemed to be updated at the end of a meeting and why they are not considered a member until the next meeting.
